There's no shortage of great books arriving this September. I've rounded up the upcoming novels that have caught my attention this month, from literary fiction and historical novels to fantasy, thrillers, romance, and some of the year's biggest bestselling authors.
The book I'm most excited about is The Witches of Cambridge by Alice Hoffman. As a longtime fan of the Practical Magic books, I can't resist another story blending family, history, and magic. A secret sisterhood of witches at a women's college in the 1950s sounds like the perfect autumn read.
September is also packed with major releases from some of my favourite authors. R.F. Kuang returns with Taipei Story, Emily St. John Mandel delivers another mind-bending literary novel with Exit Party, and Jodi Picoult explores love, loss, and resilience in Hollow Bones. Fantasy readers have plenty to look forward to as well, including the conclusion to Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House trilogy and the next installments in popular series by Rachel Gillig, Nisha J. Tuli, and L.K. Steven.
Mystery fans won't want to miss Lucy Foley's brand-new Miss Marple novel, while historical fiction readers can look forward to Ariel Lawhon's sweeping novel inspired by the legendary Irish pirate Grace O'Malley. Add in new books from Elin Hilderbrand, Min Jin Lee, John Grisham, Jeneva Rose, and Lynn Painter, and September is shaping up to be one of the strongest publishing months of the year.
