October 2026 is absolutely stacked with blockbuster fiction releases, making it one of the most exciting publishing months of the year. I've rounded up the upcoming novels I'm most looking forward to, including fantasy, thrillers, romance, literary fiction, mysteries, and several long-awaited series finales and fan-favourite returns.
The book I'm most excited about is Victorious by V.E. Schwab. I've loved the Villains series from the beginning, and I can't wait to see how the rivalry between Victor Vale and Eli Ever finally comes to an end. It's easily one of my most anticipated fantasy releases of 2026.
October also brings an incredible lineup from bestselling authors. Freida McFadden returns with the supernatural thriller The Witch, Audrey Niffenegger revisits the world of The Time Traveler's Wife in Life Out of Order, and Bonnie Garmus follows up her breakout success Lessons in Chemistry with Peck & Peck.
Fantasy readers are especially spoiled this month with Stephen King's conclusion to the Talisman trilogy, Veronica Roth's return to the world of Divergent, and the long-awaited sixth A Court of Thorns and Roses book from Sarah J. Maas.
Mystery fans can look forward to another visit to Three Pines with Louise Penny, while romance readers have plenty to choose from, including new books by Tessa Bailey, Josie Silver, Meghan Quinn, and Ana Huang. Add in highly anticipated releases from Jeffrey Archer and E. Lockhart, and October has something for every kind of fiction reader.
Whether you're looking for an epic fantasy, a chilling thriller, a cozy mystery, an unforgettable romance, or a literary page-turner, these are the October 2026 fiction releases I think deserve a spot on your radar.
